I got home this afternoon from attending a funeral for a young man who was killed in Iraq... The Rev Phelps had been in this small town this week planning his strategy to protest... However 500 members of the Patriot Guard Riders arrived in the town, and he and his group left in a hurry...
So, we can make a difference.... we can make it a better world, by doing the right things... at least in our little corner....

Phelps is an interesting critter along the lines of an amoebic dysentery bacteria. I struggle to understand where he gets his money to travel around the country with his merry band of morons.

I seem to recall that there was a study done sometime in the '90's of serial killers who targeted homosexuals which revealed a rather interesting fact. Nearly all (and especially the most vicious and vocal) of the killers had strong homosexual tendencies which they sought to deny by lashing out at anything that they perceived as "homosexual." It would certainly explain a lot if the Reverend Phelps fit into this category.

With a smoke screen like that, Phelps makes a three dollar bill look straight.

Fallen Soldier
A Soldier has fallen
He will not be forgotten
His spirit dwells in those
Whose lives he touched
He has lead us
He has taught us
He has shown us the way
He gave us all of himself
Because he was made that way
He gave birth to an idea
That will never go away
He did this all
To save us some day
As all heroes do
by CW3 Roque Gonzalez
Freedom
It is the soldier, not the reporter,
who has given us the Freedom of the press.
It is the soldier, not the poet,
who has given us Freedom of speech.
It is the soldier, not the campus organizer,
who has given us the Freedom to demonstrate.
It is the soldier, who serves beneath the Flag,
who salutes the Flag,
whose coffin is draped by the Flag,
who allows the protester to burn the Flag.
It is the soldier, not the politician,
who has given his blood, his body, his life,
who has given us these FREEDOMS.

Speaking as a veteran myself, I would say it's a good thing they don't really pursue criminal charges against a guy who beats up a total asshole. The example of that guy who called Buzz Aldrin a liar to his face and was then punched comes to mind. I greatly appreciate the right to beat the shit out of someone who tries to be so unfair as Mr. Phelps would like to be to veterans.

'Tis truly ironic to protest against one who is, in part, one of the reasons such protest is even allowed.
Good for you and yours, grumble. Good for you.

i saw some of phelps' people on the tyra banks show. it's amazing and very frightening how angry these people get just by being asked a simple question about their motives. the woman had two daughters, aged seventeen and nineteen, and both said they have no friends in school because they will not associate with anyone who is not a christian and follows christianity in the way they do. they are very open and have no problem telling people they are going to hell, and why they are going to hell. it's so frightening to me.
and the fact that they honestly believe that God could "hate" is frightening to me as well.

will not associate with anyone who is not a christian and follows christianity in the way they do. Oh here we go. When it doubt lets blame the Christians.
Lip Gloss Queen... Rev Phelps is nothing more then a self pontificating pharisee. This would be the equivalent of comparing Jim Jones to Billy Graham. Look towards the persons actions matching their words. Many a horrible person/s have hidden behind the guise of Chritianity but are not Christian.
I'm sure by the stretch of the imagination you can well imagine there might be dark and opposing forces within this world if we are willing to acknowlede Christianity as a whole.
Happy to hear about the patriot riders!

Please reread LipGloss' post! Then, knock the chip off your shoulder. She was not criticizing Christians, she was repeating what the members of this cult/family say in interviews.
By the way, the reverend's "church" consists of no more than his immediate family. Thanksgiving dinner must be a real thrill.

I agree that Phelp's group obviously seems dismissable as true Christians. So enuf said about that.
We can not however dismiss this' protesting at vets funerals' as an isolated thing.
Remember that Hitler was originally perceived the same way..... Another thought I suppose it might be difficult to have to put the motorcycle away for the winter.......I wonder do they sometimes show up on 4 wheels.I've got lots of questions.
I tried to acess the site for the Patriot Riders but my computor was sooo slow and I gave up. I think I'll try again.

I just got back from the "Patriot Guard Riders" site.
They were talking about the next 'mission'
Master Seargent Henderson , a Vietnam Vet and Patriot Guard Rider, died due to complications from 'AGENT ORANGE'.
He will be buried 2 days from now on November 3,2006.
The Vietnam war is' not' over.....it's still ''present and accounted'' for.............. in the minds,.......hearts.......AND....'.bodies' of those who served.....and their families.
LEST WE FORGET
