A Tennessee Home

19 November 2005

Caught up in a Kentucky moon
on a Mississippi highway
Cruising through Tennessee
all the way to Arkansas

Singing in Nashville
heading to Knoxville
Wondering which way to go
Leaving Memphis on a Sunday morning
ready to drive the world away

From Alabama to sweet Kentucky
For in Tennessee was a loving place to be
Looking to the sun
thinking of tomorrow
You were everything
pure heaven with no need to borrow

Nashville - oh Nashville
this Tennessee home
Just to know in heart
a wonderful place to roam

This Land of Lincoln

20 November 2005

On the shores of a lake
does echo a sound
Not in Switzerland
but in state of Illinois
where Lake Zurich was found

Inland from Lake Michigan
in waters to gather in volume
North of Buffalo Grove
and to the east to resume

This Land of Lincoln
bordering Wisconsin
Shadowed by Iowa and Indiana
where parts of Kentucky do begin

Chicago larger in size
than Springfield more central to see
While in a lower corner there was
Missouri almost repeating what was
in Illinois the capital in name to be

The Lonely Poet

08 May 2005

Tears on a tied face
lint on a worn item of clothing
The smile lost to his face
yet happiness was an emotive

Depression or dependence
another word of excuse
The lonely poet at work
not knowing in vivid text

Why - why - why
was this not tomorrow
Her shadow nursing a child
of sweet nectar sucking breast

Onward in victim of comparison
not known if the shade was grey
Pastel colours made in pattern
because this was of today

“And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone;
I will make him an help meet for him.”
Genesis 2: 18 KJV

Eyes of You

21 August 2005

To look into eyes of you
see the colour grey to blue
Like ice frozen in time
yet warm to touch in view

A smile - the beat of a heart
happiness in unity to each depart
Sunshine to sunset
separate in distance apart

When honesty was in trust
reality being all of must
Each encounter to rejoice
not to settle in conflicted dust

Not for love - not for romance
where time was a measure of advance
Two souls reaching out to know another
unable to hold each other in ways of dance

"Dance is the hidden language of the soul."
Martha Graham (1894 - 1991)
US dancer, choreographer, and teacher

Born in Pittsburgh [Pennsylvania, USA] on May 11 1894, and raised in California, USA from the age of 14 years old. Where her initial dance craft was enriched through her training of dance in musical revues. To develop her own style of independent dance and debut in 1926, Martha Graham first appeared with her own group of dancers in 1929.

The Martha Graham Dance Company in New York City, USA, founded by Martha Graham in 1926, is the oldest, most celebrated modern dance company in the world. Even when through trying times a decade after her death, a legal decision in late 2002 allowed the company to regroup, and began to perform her dances again in early 2003.

The Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance in New York in exploring Martha Graham’s genius and the creation of a new art form: American modern dance. Grew of this legacy born to the late 19th century, exploding in grace and poise in the 20th century to endure for the 21st.

Tender Shoulders

21 November 2005

My heart was broken
my soul was dented
Maybe I was just
down and out
and demented

This crazy world
a place seeking love
To look up and wonder
about shapes of clouds above

What was love
was it worth the pain
Even if I would never ever
forget her in interest by name

It had been years
and many to number and count
As I look from my window
to see those days as in weight
upon tender shoulders they amount

While I Sleep

29 March 2005

While I sleep
you are there
As if in my dreams
your day has happened
without me

A Separation of distance and time
away for your waking hour
To miss your fond understanding
drifting as if the Pacific upon a sea

Of dreams where destination
is your day away from my night
Oh how I ponder to thought
of a meeting given take flight

In spread out wings only you can have
angelic gossamer of attachment sought
Such to my own theme in reality
of this deep eternal conscience fought

“But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord
appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear
not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her
is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt
call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.”
Matthew 1: 20-21 KJV

Debonair Debby

21 November 2005

She was from Hazel Green
and if that was one place she’d been
With her dog named ‘blue’
and her travel in miles too

This Alabama beauty
at least at this time
Seeking out another
mountain or suitor to dine

Eyes of blue green
hair of blonde today
With her games of pool
to stick at and play

Debby the woman of debonair
for to her - life was momentary to cheer
Straight and natural in her looks to beat
all in heavenly elegance from top to feet

Tu eres mi Adorada Mariposa

22 April 2005

My beloved butterfly
Tu eres mi adorada mariposa
Here I be once more
seated upon a stone of clay
to thoughts of come what may

In pastures of green
I have been assigned to turn brown
Within the shadow of a grass laden bank
where in my heart are prayers
in God to thank

Beyond me to the right
an engine does idle in rhythm
of my heart as to a beat
To be so happy in feeling
I am but able to work to days end

As when I return to a place
you and I in words can greet
It will be these thoughts
I send to you as if sandwich of meet

The Page Before

21 November 2005

Lost on the page before
those words to know you adore
For maybe you never did see them
or read of the poet and simply forgot

Lost in places looking to find
taken away by journey within mind
So perhaps you can be forgiven
because you are all to forgive

This poet who writes in heart
even if this was by way of art
Lost in a place of loneliness to dwell
this fold of sheets wrapped to strangle tight

When who said life was always good
or was it that to some love to come could
Lost in a shadow wanting to be there
this place of Love and a living more fair

A Good Man’s Wish

21 November 2005

To wish good was never bad
this love of another not to be sad
Her heart and his soul
two together in a bed
double in comfort to role

Lonely nights in a bed of size
her not there and sleep no prize
A single entity - then who could
truly love God and that of a tree

To have given her heaven
and treated her all in kind
But still find reason for anger
to cross and taint an open mind

This wish of endless passion
a love and desire for an adoring best friend
Sure we can always wish and dream
a heart broken by another being only pretend

I Want to Love

21 November 2005

I want to love you
I want to love you so much
I want to hold you
and next to me clutch

Your beauty
your child inside
This mother of caring
the Lioness of your pride

I want to love you
and the truth is I do
I love you in my heart
because my love for you is true

You are heaven
you are earth
Because to love you
comes in every thing
to treasure in value and worth

Live Free or Die

13 June 2003

Have you been to
Vermont in Fall
Or to Alaska in
the month of May
Or was that
Colorado Springs
did you say

From New England
to Newport — Oregon
Even if Portland was
borrowed from the
state of Maine
Where a place like
Springfield was not
exactly the same

While in Maryland you
might discover Washington DC
If not Virginia where Springfield
was across from the Potomac
flowing into Chesapeake Bay
Or was it Massachusetts
because from there Vermont
was not that far away

In the United States of America the naming of a settlement: Springfield was a factor in several states: Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont, and Virginia [Out of fifty states]. With a population as small as 500 in South Carolina to 160,000 in Massachusetts.

Making Thoughts Count

28 July 2003

It is nice to be remembered
on a passing day
Even if it was only
now and then
come what may

To be thought of by someone else
on a consideration to tell
Because although you remember them
unless they know all is well

Then that memory is but
a secret hidden away
So don’t wait to remember
if your thought is kind
as you say

This friend of mind
may just be thinking of you
So thanks for getting in touch
as it is a wonderful act to do

"Verily, I say unto . . . [you], . . . I will call you friends, for
you are my friends, and ye shall have an inheritance with me—"
Doctrine and Covenants 93: 45

Love Alive

14 November 2003

When you are too old
to fall in love
Because after all
you do not know
what love is

To ask yourself
the very same
question to seek
If only to love
the reason to be

Of a life void
of physical truth
Yet emotional above decree
A life that was your own
a life to live as chosen

So when you are too old
to ever fall in love
Perhaps then it might
just happen to arrive
In a reminder of
an excuse to be alive

"And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad
in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. For when we
were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. But
God commendeth his love towards us, in that, . . . Christ died for us "
Romans 5: 5-6, 8 KJV

Lima Oscar Romeo India

23 June 2005

Her name was Lori
that was the story
Her name was Lori
that was true

This wonderful Lori
who could only be you
This wonderful Lori
what an amazing story

To have found you
in being holden too heart
Like these were our words of such
togetherness of kin - distance of being apart

To have understood you
in all God has made
Of gratitude and kinship
said in prayer not to fade

For her name was Lori
this wonderful Lori
What an amazing story
captured in kinship of glory

Here’s to you - Lima Oscar Romeo India
and your home did state
A journey of a quest - made all
by God - to His fate

Where fame and fortune
were an instrument of gold
Not to be brought - but given in sharing
upon a heart felt sold

For her name was Lori
that was the story
Her name was Lori
that was true

This wonderful Lori
who could only be you
This wonderful Lori
what an amazing story

For her name was Lori
this wonderful Lori
What an amazing story
captured in kinship of glory

“Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have
eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.”
John 5: 39-40 KJV

The use of the words: “Lima Oscar Romeo India” (Pronunciation: LEE MAH - OSS CAH - ROW ME OH - IN DEE AH ) is the make up of NATO phonetic spelling. Where the NATO Phonetic Alphabet is a series of standard words used in voice “radio communication” where it may be necessary to spell out words, callsigns, etc., e.g. J=Juliet, C=Charlie. Developed in the 1950s to be intelligible [and pronounceable] to all NATO allies in the heat of battle. In replacing other phonetic alphabets of the time and becoming an international standard.

The NATO phonetic alphabet is a common name for the Radiotelephony spelling alphabet of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), which assigned words to the letters of the English alphabet so that critical combinations of letters could be pronounced and understood by aircrew and air traffic controllers regardless of their native language.

Staten Island Crossing

22 November 2005

When the Staten Island
ferry finds it way
He will be there standing
at Saint George waiting

On a journey further to field
far from Manhattan skylines
and Whitehall Street
To this place of sanctuary
your heart and kind do meet

Waiting for a dream to come true
To look into eyes of beauty
and know it really was you

Standing patiently with outstretched arms
ready to embrace you in two hearts as one
This day all your winter days will
be summer and warm to the sun

Texture to Show

23 November 2005

A woman scorned
was one with eyes closed
Her blindness - holden
and unable to clearly see

As if a man could step
over her heart and walk on by
This man who may have
never known he made her cry

Tears wept from a broken heart
her parting sorrow left to beguile
Hoodwinked and perhaps influenced
by forces shy to a brighter day

All hopes dashed in but a single breath
where empty spells were to bewitch
This woman a man did once know
her dear hearted soul of texture to show

Reality True

24 November 2005

You are but beauty
and do not hide that away
Do not let anyone take you happiness
that was thought of as love in disguise

You are all of heaven
everything God did give
Even if in scripture
woman came from but one rib

You are more
to that lines can describe
A wonderful woman
with a heart so wise

Let your light shine
and be there for you
Because in likeness
reality can be true

A Vale of Adore

26 November 2005

Her words were pages in a book
her heart was beating to that lost
Each life has but one to give
Every ember of a fire
does not always glow

Confusion reigns as to summer
this flood of immortality to weather
The Scotsman - the kilt
a mother in name of Heather

For when was rhyme an enemy
to that of death dearly departed
Like a Tangerine to pluck
in a form of enlightenment

There yesterday - but now silent
brothers - friends - sisters and more
The people we love the most
passed upon a vale of adore

“I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God;
for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered
me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself
with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.”
Isaiah 61: 10 KJV

A Poet’s Beauty

26 November 2005

Beauty was a friend
when there was wonder to the word
Therefore in passing I know she was a friend
since that as what I had heard

Beauty was Canadian
or born in the USA
Beauty was Australian
or a woman down my way

Tammy - Michele
Kat or Lori
Beauty was Patricia
and all in story

Each word of beauty
another to share
For what was beauty
in words of amour to bear
