He Comes
Come close, my friends, and lend an ear,
Take heed for what I say.
The day of God is drawing near,
When love will light the way...
He comes to see who kept the choice
That echoed from above.
He comes, and Heaven shall rejoice,
Within our Father's love.
He comes to lift the weary heart
Whose will has not denied.
He comes to tear the world apart
And judge the sin they hide.
He comes to thrust the vengeant blade;
And cast them down below.
He comes to keep the vow he made
That sings from long ago.
He comes to take the spirit home;
To set His children free.
He comes to crush the will of Rome,
And drown beneath the sea.
The hate that grows throughout the land,
Will fall beneath His plow.
He comes to grind their stone to sand,
With wrath upon His brow.
He comes, and so the world may cry,
But laughter will remain.
For, those who trust the Lord on high
Shall never thirst again.
