A Walk In Moonlight |

With the setting of the sun,
With the softness of the sand,
With the rustling of the wind,
With the crashing of the waves,
I walk alone in this near twilight.
I walk alone looking up and down the coast.
I walk alone seeking what is not there.
I walk alone trying to find the reflection that is me.
Turning reflection within
I examine my past.
Laughter and horror
Both do I see.
Slowly do I move along the beach
And time is fading fast.
The moon has lit the sky,
The stars come out to play.
Looking around in a sea of dreams,
Into the future and might-have-been's,
Looking at myself I am not pleased with what is there.
Inward I turn, seeking to put it right.
My inner demons do I wrest,
Seeking purity of thought, word and deed.
My emotions with me do battle
With teeth, claws and knife.
Above the moon palely reflects the sun in glory,
Raising into the sky for all to see.
I only wish my innermost self could shine
Half as much as this baren rock in the sky.
Committed to this purpose,
Against my own heart must I guard.
Against my own mind must I wrest.
My own soul cries out.
Above a crescent moon shines
And yet I can see my path.
Footsteps in the sand tell the tale
of my long journey.
In prayer do I seek solace
for alone will I fail.
The Lord is my shepherd
I shall not want.
And on my prayer moves me,
kneeling in the sand.
With energy renewed and my soul at peace,
dawn approaches.
