Approaching winter with hues of gray
Brings forth a promise of a blessed spring day
The beauty and splendor of fall unfold
A story of love that has yet to be told
Although this is my favorite time
I long for someone that I can call mine
To walk along a tree lined street
Sound of leaves crumbling beneath our feet
I dream this dream as I see leaves fall
Longing to find you, hoping you call
Yet how shall I know you by staying inside
I hide in my comfort or is that foolish pride
Thinking the armor around me has kept me so warm
The longer it’s there the greater the harm
To safe I’ve became by holding heart near
I may never be able to find you my dear
Just when I think, I’m prepared to do this
I’m going to take aim and I’m not going to miss
One must have a target in order to aim
A love ever after who will feel the same
Will it come in this lifetime I truly don’t know
To bask in the warmth of love’s afterglow
So I sit alone to enjoy the wondrous hues,
To dream of the day when I will have you.
