She Was Like an Autumn Sonnet

In a sluggish Sunday Autumn evening,
Island breezing—crisp with ocean salt—
drifted down the narrow lonesome hallway.
I heard some teasing chaos in the hostel lounge.
My heart began to pound with breathy sounds.
She flew into her room in flashy twirl
of shopping bags. Smelled of sweet gardenias,
and musk-like scents, a carnal tease that bent
my nose; a craving buckled weakened knees.
I dared a peek into her open door.
She stood amongst the clutter on the floor.
Shimmering in the waning sunlight, her
auburn hair it struck my eyes with streams
of diamonds, her eyes like friendly starlight.
Then I saw her lips move. “Hello,” she said,
in sultry spice of pouting lips. My words
choked in my throat, she kocked her head to match
her feisty smile, I had to find a seat,
and gaze at her with longing lusty smile.
