I'm not usually the tea type. But I had heard so many stories about people feeling better drinking Green Tea. So I decided to buy some. Now I need some help. LOL
I just boiled up the first cup and dropped the tea bag in as the directions stated. Then I started to get the "aroma" that was supposed to be so therapeutic. Is it just me or does this stuff smell just like wet hay or grass? I figured perhaps my senses were dulled and decided to take a sip. I'll be damned if it didn't taste just like freshly cut grass dipped into a boiling cup of water. Is it really supposed to taste like that, or did I just get a bad batch? LOL if so i'll just save the money next time and re-use my lawn clippings.

I didn't care much for it either which I shouldn't even say since I'm studying Nutrition... I did drink it for several months and lucky for me at first I bought a "sampler" box that had several flavored ones so for a while I stuck mostly with the lemon-flavored one.
Now there's "white tea" which is as good or better and supposed to have a milder flavor, I've yet to try that it but during the summer my tea drinking pretty much comes to a halt.

Yes, it's pretty rank.
There are a lot of healthy tea options.
If you want to try staying "mainstream" look at some of Bigelow's selections. They're restful and cleansing without being putrid.

I agree that green tea can taste just like freshly cut grass, especially the tradition blends. However there is a brand out there called Good Earth that blends the tea with lemongrass and it imparts a wonderful, sweet aroma and taste. I like just a spot of honey with mine.

Thanks for the responses, perhaps i'll try one of the varieties that have some sort of flavoring.
At least now I know what sod farmers do with all the grass they cut weekly.

You don't really have to drink green tea all day long to get healthful benefits of it. You can take a green tea supplement in capsule form(just make sure it has a high polyphenol content). The one I use is a green tea supplement I orfer off the internet from young again nutrients and it contains 97% polyphenols and 300mg green tea per capsule.

I discovered green tea at around the same time, I stopped eating meat of any kind, I never disliked the taste but did find that the"Good Earth"variety as tahoma mentions is a much better blend, the other things are adding lemon, and honey, not a lot but a small amount changes, your blah green rea into, o yeah YUMMY! Peace, Pixie

Green tea is tea that has not been fermented. Its not grass... its actually tea.
Just a FYI.

I drink green tea but I dont drink it hot though. I get a bottle of water and drop the tea bag inside the bottle of water and I drink it that way.

I drink green tea almost daily and I'm convinced of it's benefits. Typically I'll steep 4-6 teabags for thirty minutes, pour into a medium pitcher, add an equal amount of water and then serve it over ice with lemon and an artifical sweetener.

Green Tea has enormous health benefits. I was just listening to a show on NPR and the dosing is important, especially for weight loss. If you want to take green tea as a way to lose weight, it must be taken with meals. What they found (and all people eating right now, please turn away) is that people who drank the tea with meals or took supplements shortly before meals, had higher levels of undigested fats and carbs in their feces. A digusting but important fact.

Maybe its mostly psychological, but I always feel better after drinking green tea. It has a calming, purifying effect. I also like Pomegranite juice. (Pom Wonderful).

However there is a brand out there called Good Earth that blends the tea with lemongrass and it imparts a wonderful, sweet aroma and taste I agree, the lemongrass tea is very good. Green Chai Tea is quite delicious as well. In regards to using green tea supplements, take into account that supplements have been processed during the manufacturing stage. From the research that I have done, there are many health benefits associated with drinking green tea.

I buy the green tea in the bottles, easier that way, the kind that has an added flavor, just love the green tea with pomegranate, omg, it is awesome, Arizona puts it out, it's an energy drink, not sure what guarana is, it also has taurine in it, what that is, who knows lol. It also has ginseng and I believe caffeine, it has quite the punch to it.

Sugar also causes tooth decay. Better to add organic erythritol or stevia because they won't cause tooth decay.
