Help!! I am addicted to chewing on ice cubes! I am not sure why I do this. Does anyone know? It is ruining my teeth...... It's like a drug, I find myself going to my freezer and grabbing cubes, not realizing it. Next thing you know I am chewing on ice. What is my body trying to tell me?

I used to do that when I was pregnant. If there was snow on the ground I ate that but icecubes when there was no snow to be had. I just couldn't help it. Could you be pregnant?

According to this: http://www.dietitian.com/iron.html your body might be telling you it needs iron.

Thank you, bambooo
It kind of makes sense now, I don't eat meat...so that is where the iron deficiancy comes from. And I live in high altitude..... Now lets see if I can't remedy this with some of that lovely ecoli spinach

Trail mix with raisins...that's high altitude food (and gently crunchy, too! )

I had a sister in law that ate ice constantly...once she got the iron under control, the craving went away.

I had a friend tell me once that chewing on ice meant you were sexually frustrated. But who knows maybe the iron thing is right too. It certainly wouldn't hurt to try either one though.

I ate ice a few years back...so bad I was buying bags of it and crushing it w/ a hammmer to make it smaller, and Bambooo is right, when I started to take iron pills the craving went away.
