I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia almost 2 years ago.. the doctor says it was probably brought on by a back injury I recieved in a car accident 5 years ago.. I have run the gamut on pain meds.. even methadone.. (boy that was a high that I don't wanna ever have again)... 2 weeks ago I told my doc that I couldn't live like this anymore.. the fatigue was unbearable. I was exhausted.. I am taking oxycodone, using lidocain pain patches, prozac to help me sleep and neurontin for the spidery feelings in my hip and legs.. I was so excited to try this med.. and the first day I had the most wonderful relief from the fatigue.. I couldn't believe how wonderful I felt.. the drug was initially used for people with sleep disorders, like shift workers.. even military fighter pilots use it to keep them alert. I wake up feeling like I really slept, my pain meds work better.. my memory has improved .... this is the most amazing med!   Nov 7, 2006 @ 6:09 PM Provigil     SunBabe Posts: 12,251 I'm SO excited for you, DaisyDoodle! (and I know how critical this relief has been for you ) I have this on my "wish list" for the next time I can see a doc ...especially since I had that reaction to the Cymbalta (tho I'm willing to TRY that again -- it's similar to what you have the neurontin for) And ~groan~ no one around here will prescibe oxycodone for anyone anymore because of all the jerks that use it to get high   Nov 12, 2006 @ 7:15 PM Provigil     daisy315 Posts: 4,333 hon... I have been giving a half a pill to my mom and she LOVES it... says she is gonna ask her doc about it too.. and my aunt Carol was diagnosed with Fibro after being in 3 car accidents.. now, she is in so much pain she won't even let my uncle sleep in the same bed with her anymore.. mom told her about it yesterday... she said she is gonna see her doctor asap.. side effects are minimal for me.. just the dry mouth so far.. I hope this lasts... it's my last hope Sunshine...   Nov 12, 2006 @ 7:17 PM Provigil     daisy315 Posts: 4,333 hey Sunbabe.. if the neurontin works for you.. it has a generic and is waaay cheaper than the Cymbalta there are doctors around here that will prescribe the oxy, but you have to sign a contract and submit to the dreaded piss test every now and then.. my friend Steve was just started on it at his doctors office and he isn't going to a pain clinic like I am... funny thing is.. when you take the oxy for a REAL pain.. you don't get a buzz from it.. thank God.. that methadone Jane had me on scared the hell outta me..
