I had acid reflux for years. Tried every drug possible, no relief. Read about apple cider vinegar. It worked the first time. One tablespoon of Applecider vinegar at the onset of a attack and no more burning. I was skeptical at first, I thought yeah sure, add more acid to a acidic stomach that erupting into my esphogus. Come to find out when you have acid reflux and you down antacids or acid reducing pills you are making the acid reflux worse. The reason people get acid reflux is not because of too much acid in the stomach. But not enough acid in the stomach. I take a tablespoon in the morning and one at night. And have never had acid reflux again. Has anybody used Apple cider vinegar for other health issues. I know it is used for many things. Acid Reflux being the most well known

try it, it beats nexium or any other pill you have taken. I have been there. Tried all the over counter and prescription drugs.

Vinegars have been used for many different types of digestive situations since their discovery. One of the main reasons they typically prove effective is the vinegar's ability to alter Ph. High Ph(acidity) can cause discomfort, irratation & damage to the delicate parts of the digestive system. Low Ph(alkalinity) is just as dangerous, sometimes promoting dangerous levels of bacteria in the upper & lower GI. People suffering from Acid Reflux have to be concerned about stomach acids(high Ph) doing long term damage to their esophagus. When they consume vinegar, it instantly levels out the Ph(neutral balance). As bacteria can not grow in neutral Ph & the acids are subdued, the reflux is relieved. It's very simular to pickle juice aiding pregnant women with morning sickness & heartburn.
Ask, learn, grow... :)

Have also heard of people taking hydrochloric acid and pepsin for acid reflux. Good adrenal gland function is required for proper stomach acid formation. If normal hydrochloric acid is not being formed the body can form a stronger mutant type acid that creates acid reflux. Taking HCL pepsin will work in these cases by replacing the wrong acid. Use this until you strenghten adrenal glands to stimulate your own normal acid production. You will have to experiment to see how much supplementation is necessary or you can get too much HCL this way and cause reflux. Usually works with people with slower metabolism.

Hi LakeErieTreasure, There is a great book called ACV Health System by Paul & Patricia Bragg it says that it's a good source of Potassium, good for overweight, removing toxic wastes, get rid of corns & warts, sunburns, healthy skin, arthritis and prostate problems to name a few. over 54 pages of information. There is one good book on how to make your own, The Natural Foods Cookbook by Beatrice Trum Hunter. I make my own from the tree in my back yard, seeds skin & pulp, that way it is as natural as can be.

Perhaps the best thing a person can do for Acid Reflux is to lose weight! My best friend(Who is a doctor) told me this and he was right! I developed acid reflux for the first time in my life at the beginning of last year. Once I got down below 180 pounds, the acid reflux went away, and it hasn't returned!

I've used it for years and it contains enzymes that aid digestion and also calm the stomach - I keep it down to a tablespoon so that I don't overwhelm my stomach - Just enough to remove the stomach pain and then I examine what the heck I ate to kick start the problem in the first place - LOL - It is a great remedy!

no tatania orange juice is not the same kind of acid. It has to be apple cider vinegar. The best apple cider vinegar is 100% apple cider vinegar with (mother) the mother is the stuff that seattles at the bottom of the bottle. Shake the bottle before using it. So you get some of that too. Apples cider vinegar with mother you can ususally only buy at GNC or a health food store. Regular grocery stores filter their apple cider vinegar. It works just as well for acid reflux, but the (mother) in the apple cider vinegar has a lot of extra health benefits to it. Cheryl

Have you been tested for Barrett's esophagus? From what you described, it matches symptoms. Then you don't want to mess around with it as it is a precancerous condition.

I use it regularly for the reflux - works beautifully. It also helps with digestion. The stomach enzymes are more effective when a little of the cider is used to help the digestion process too...

Protonix took care of my problem early last year. I found that I had to do away with martinis for a while. The vodka was aggravating.
