Sometimes I hang out with a guy who was a medic in Special Ops. He says that most health problems can be avoided or at the very least minimized by simply drinking water. Coupled with a half way decent diet and excercise its even better. Since the human body is about 94% water , what he says makes sense. The guy is about 65 but looks about 45. He goes on to say that about 85% of the general population are dehydrated from coffee , soda , booze and the like. I drink a gallon or more of water a day and know that I feel much better than when I dont drink enough. I also "P" a lot and thats good also , especially if you sit at a desk or drive all day. I bicycle in the summers and in winters swim laps and then use the sauna and as a result have the skin of a 5 year old because of my water consumption and my ability to really sweat heavily. A word of caution though , water flushes out toxins and bacteria but it also flushes out enzymes and minerals , so its good to put those back in with a healthy diet and some kind of suppliments.

Water makes me gag and gives me heartburn.
I drink plenty of green tea though!

I drink about 2 litres a day....mainly because I'm pretty active so it's important I keep hydrated.
I've also heard that statistic about the majority of the population being dehydrated. An interesting side effect of this is over-eating. Dehydration can create that grumble in the stomach which a lot of people fill with food/snacks of some kind. A simple drink of water sorts it out and is generally preferable to a bar of chocolate or some other mid-afternoon treat.

That death from water intoxication is probably going to keep 95% of the population dehydrated now!
Too much, too fast can be dangerous, yes. However, it's pretty hard to drink too much, unless as stated, the body doesn't have sufficient electrolytes.

I like water and for all that do might do a google search on water intoxication. Its talks about if you drink to much water you could die. Recently someone died from this, a radio show had a contest, the idea was to see who could drink the most water without going to the restroom, the winner got a Wii.
Lady died from water intoxication, I did not know this was possible until I read the news report!

Being a water drinker at work can put your job at risk...too many trips to the ladies room.

To any one who has an enlarged prostate, ( Stormy73 ) water is the best thing for it. you should be getting at least 8 glasses of water a day, just not after 8 pm ( if you go to bed at midnight ) I keep to the 70% fresh fruit & Veggies and 30% meat & starches & it seems to be working, also I find dairy products are no good for me. You have to keep experimenting to find out what sets it off,for me it's things like coffee, strawberries, bananas to name a few. good luck and drink lots of water!

I drink close to a gallon a day most days, and have been for almost a year now. Once my body got used to the added water, the trips to the ladies room decreased. I've also lost 70 lbs in that year and I know the added water had a lot to do with it.

Water is great for losing weight, it keeps your stomach full so you aren't hungry.

Some of the water drinking stuff (as far as the daily consumption of 8-8oz. glasses a day) has been proven to be false. It is important to stay hydrated, but that much isn't necessary, unless you're an athlete or live in the desert.
