There has been alot of ink in the news lately about public health officials in Spain, Italy, the UK, New York, etc voicing their concerns about the mutant stick insects that pass for runway models. To date, this discussion has focused largely on young women. Well, apparrently what is good for the gander is good for the goose. Young men desiring a modeling career, especially for certain houses like Dior, are being pushed to the extremes about their weight.

No longer is a trim, muscular, buff body enough. The model scouts are looking for very skinny, andro-looking models. Here is a link from London's Independent newspaper. I would remind American readers 1 stone = 14 pounds.

Dennis Quaid developed a case of manorexia while filming his role of Doc Holiday for Wyatt Earp.

My OB friend told me that thinner the better for increasing life span unless the patient reaches the anorexic (>15% less than normal body weight).
