I posted a blog about a story I read from the AP today. I am simply using this story as an opportunity to promote mental illness awareness & the fact that it is no laughing matter. If you know someone who is suffering, please try to assist them in getting help.
My blog.........
Thank you.

My 13 year old daughter has recently been diagnosed with bi poler and depression. I realized she had a problem when she she cut her arms about 25 times. Against her wishes, I got her into therapy. Her doctor has her on Trazadone and Lamictal. She is now the sweet little girl she use to be.I work with mentally ill people in a psych hospital, so I know the importance of her staying in therapy, folowing doctors advice and being a supporter for her.

I didn't see this before. I also posted some information in a blog a few days ago. Mental and emotional illness seems rampant online, more so than real life.
If these threads and blogs help even one person, it's worth the time and effort we spend trying to make awareness.
Thanks Mel, you are a gem!!

MissLiss, thank you. It is so important to raise awareness about mental illness. We've come far, but not nearly far enough....

I w as just WAITING for YOU to say something about my post, Lippy. For your information, I have suffered from depression MY ENTIRE LIFE. It was at its worst when I was a child, then my early to mid teen years. And, for the first 4 months of this year, I battled a very bad episode, perhaps the worst yet. And through ALL that, at least I MAINTAINED A SENSE OF HUMOUR.

Hey, I didn't know. I had no idea.
You getting defensive when I had virtually NO idea is really quite unfair.
And we all deal with things differently. I can't maintain a sense of humour when it concerns a debilitating condition that will make it so I can never live a normal life. Sorry.

Unfortunately there are many many more people than we would ever think with types of mental illness. Everyone deals with it differently. Luckily there are many caring people here at MD to give comfort, advice and concern if you want/need it.
