I sometimes have the sensations on my legs or arms. And lately my head keeps itching but that's because we've had lice at school!! (I don't have lice though).

I teach 2nd grade and we have had an awful outbreak of lice this year. I've taught for 30 years and never seen anything like this.
I never heard of those symptoms for menopause but then I went into it pretty much knowing nothing about it!

I have the needles and pins.. and the spidery sensation.. but it comes from my back injury after the car crash.. peripheral neuropathy.. neurontin takes care of it pretty well... when I can get someone to give me some..

there is a simular condition called periphreal neuritis, vitamins B-6 and b-12 are supposed to help. perhaps it wouldn't hurt to take the complete vit B complex. we be jammin

Or peripheral neuropathy...which vitamins don't really help, but they can't hurt -- "just in case".

Someone on here suggested I take fish oil, so I started a week ago...we'll see. But I take calcium, folic acid, b12, potassium and magnesium also. It isn't gone, just better!

The tingling has stopped, must have been the new pillow... wow I was worried for awhile there, thought I might be showing signs of a heart attack. Ditched the new pillow for my old one and the tingling has gone.

for 3 or 4 days now I have had the pins and needles feeling all over my body, including my head and my feet. I have had a headache for over a week now, the first days was so unbearable I almost called my husband at work to take me to the emergency room. The thought of menopause has crossed my mind
please..... i'm not sleeping either

Lor, I'm wracking my brain here. I had a spell with the tingling a few months ago, lasted over a week but then went away. The first time I changed my bath soap, laundry soap.... everything to try to figure out what it was... nothing worked... the headache is the worst tho.... and talk about some of the dumbest dreams...
I'm losing it, thats all there is, I'm just losing it

I was reading about pins and needles sensations and they are also something that happens to women in menapuse, since your 49 laz...
maybe thats it? There is a blood test to tell if your in menapause, which could explain some things you may be feeling.

Ok.... back to the top.... the pins and needles sensation is still on going, only worse, still all over my body, from head to toe, even in my mouth. I did some research on the net ( not always a good thing to do btw) and found this
Paresthesia is a sensation, usually felt on the skin, usually felt or described as numbness, tingling, pins and needles, or pricking. It is sometimes also known as having the arm, leg, or other body part "fall asleep." There is no known long-term physical effect from paresthesia.
Paresthesia may be classified as either transient or chronic. Transient paresthesia may be a symptom of hyperventilation syndrome or a panic attack. Chronic paresthesia may result from poor circulation, nerve irritation, neuropathy, or many other conditions and causes.
Common causes of paresthesia include:
Alcoholism
Anticonvulsant drugs
Atherosclerosis
Autoimmune disorders
Beta-alanine ingestion
Dehydration
Fabry disease
Fibromyalgia (FMS)
Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS)
Heavy metal poisoning
Herpes zoster (shingles)
Hyperventilation
Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar)
Immune deficiency
Lidocaine poisoning
Lomotil (drug)
Lupus erythematosus
Lyme disease infection
Malnutrition
Menopause
Metabolic disorders (diabetes, hypothyroidism, hypoparathyroidism, etc.)
Migraines
Motor neuron diseases
Multiple sclerosis (MS)
Nerve irritation
Neurological disorders
Neuropathy
Nitrous oxide exposure (long term)
Obdormition
Radiation poisoning
SSRI withdrawal
Transient ischemic attack
Vitamin B deficiency (specifically, B5 and B12)
Whiplash
Treatment for paresthesia is selected by a doctor or medical professional in the neurology area (neurologist). A CT scan is commonly used for diagnosis. Once the diagnosis has been made, treatment options may include medication, moving limbs, and loosening or actively using muscles. I'm making a doctor's appt as soon as possible as this is now driving me nuts. Even my clothes touching my skin is painful. But the doctor's here in this town are dumber than a bunch of rocks, so that means 40 mile trips to Cedar Rapids will be in order. That sucks. I have gtried to look back at my medical history and am wondering of the tick fever I got back in 1991 is finally coming back to haunt me since I am already suffering from the joint pain my doctor said I would suffer from the tick fever.....

I had similar "so painful" tingling in my feet, legs and fingers. I take neurontin at night and deal with the "leftover" pain during the day. That's been from 2 years ago....and I zipped through menopause without even knowing it. I do have vitamin deficiencies, so they aren't really sure what caused it-it just IS.
You should call me when you come to CR, Laz

It is similar to brewers yeast but more concentrated and not a by product of beer like brewers yeast.
It is cheapest if you can buy it in bulk [by the pound] at the health food store. You can probably find it online as well.

Thanks lor and Kenn...... I guess I would feel better (mentally) if I knew why this is going on. I can remember as far back as 2003 when my hands would get numb but didn't think much about it at the time as it usually didn't last very long. But now since it's all over my body, and does not ease up at all it's beginning to worry me.....hopefully the doctor can give me some insight and help

Sounds like a version of Restless Leg Syndrome. Check it out on the internet. Don't know if it has anything to do with early menopause though.
