This morning I was stung by a damned yellow jacket(Unprovoked, I might add), and about 30 minutes ago, I was stung by ANOTHER kind of bee; it kind of looked like a wasp, but was black with some yellow patterns on it. My question is... since it was two different types of bees that stung me, might there be some dangerous reaction between the two venoms?

good advise MissLiss, do like she said...
you would have already know it if you were going to have a reaction...
it's sort of like a doctor will tell someone when the say "i can't breath"... "if you are talking you are breathing"

Not unless your allergic to bee or wasp venom. You got stung again because the first hornet left a pheromone on you that invited more to sting. If I get stung by a hornet and I dont give myself a shot right of Epinephrine right away and then get down to the clinic,I'll be dead within the hour.

I had not been stung in years until a few weeks ago.....a bee got me TWICE in the same area of my foot! OUCH! Ice did the trick....I'm already on a daily antihistamine..... But yes, you certainly would have known within a short time if you were going to have a reaction & needed medical attention. Take care!

Same here Miss. I was knocking down a nest, I do it several times a year. But this time one of the little buggers decided to sting me! I put benadryl cream on it and was fine.

Yellowjackets suck. Well at least you are still alive and didn't get stung by the whole hive.
Tip.... When BBQ'n make sure to take one hotdog and break it into little pieces and place it somewhere away from the main BBQ so that the bees will have something to eat and stay away from you.

Hornets are not my friends I found out. A few days ago, while watering my garden alongside the fence, I must have disturbed their nest/hive. Damn those little suckers are fast! I can usually chase them away with the watering hose, but one broke through the deluge and zapped me on my upper arm.
I iced it down immediately, but it kept swelling and swelling. This is day 4 and it's down to 2 1/2" round red and bumpy patch, bit for three days it was the size, firmness and texture of half an orange -- the skin was all blistery. Never had that happen before!
Then last night, I was watering in the same place again (yeh, dummy me forgot to look for the nest armed with hornet spray ) and yep, got zapped again -- FOUR times!
This time I jumped in the car and headed to the drugstore. I bought those new instant dissolving Benedryl strips and melted a couple on my tongue right there at the checkout counter. They seem to have done the trick because three of the stings are just normal nickle-sized red marks and the swelling in my left hand is minimal. That one started to blow up immediately and my fingers were numbing by the time I got to the store in a matter of minutes -- I still can't get my ring off, but at least I don't have a huge goose egg this time.
Lesson learned: keep that "instant" Benedryl nearby when I'm working in the yard. And go on more periodic hunts with the "Wasp and Hornet Killer" spray. (I'm thinking their nest must be in one of my wicker patio chairs...ack, that'd be one heck of a greeting if I ever had guests "pulling up a chair to sit a spell", lol)

I'm glad you're okay.
I've always heard that moist tobacco was good to remove the poison.

LOL, tobacco is something I have ~grin~ I was really surprised because I've never had a hornet reaction before. (I've had anaphylactic reactions to other things before, so I knew what to watch for. I don't think hornets/wasps usually produce that effect. It's generally bee stings that are dangerous to some people, right?)

Two days later and NOW my hand chooses to swell up...along with the sting on my thigh and a mild one on my cheek swelling my eye half shut -- time for more Benedryl. See ya when I wake up.
~grrrr~ But I killed the entire nest of those li'l suckers! They'd made their home in my wicker chair (took me awhile to find them, the sneaky b******s).
But it's really neat -- the swelling disguises all the wrinkles and veins in my hand. I've got to go check my face...maybe I need to get stung on my other cheek -- regularly.

Hey agter you get rid of the allergy reaction put a tincture of bay leaf on it. It will sting at first but it will heal up in two days, try an ointment made of cloves and basil as well as the bayleaf, that will numb it and keep it clean.
