I'm trying to lose about 20 pounds. This is probably a VERY stupid question, but can you lose weight faster by walking an hour EVERY day... or every OTHER day?

yes, of course. every day exercise is great, but every other day would be best (at least at first) because it gives your body a chance to recuperate.
and what Lori said. Everything in moderation is my motto!

You should include some type of exercise everyday.......and watch your food intake........Also........I hate to say this...but dont buy bigger clothes. When you feel the clothes you have tighten up....watch what you eat for a few days.

one of the latest articles i have read concerning weight loss and exercise is the fast/slow method. after you have warmed up increase your speed until you are walking or running flat out for 30-60 seconds and then slow way down to normal walking. this article was in the Running Journal (an eastern/southeastern running magazine) i think they have a website so that maybe you can read the article yourself. we be jammin

I think the general consensus is that you shouldn't work the same muscles every day as the recovery period is when the improvement occurs.
That said, I lost about 25 pounds in one month walking my lunch hour every day. Of course it might have helped that lunch ended up being a protein bar!

So... y'all are in agreement that the South Beach Cookie Diet is a definite no-no? But seriously, folks... A friend of mine told me about that walking fast and then walking VERY fast or running for about 30 seconds, and I've basically been doing that, and I STILL can't get below 165. I have five weeks to lose 12 pounds before I go on vacation, and I would very much like to be able to see my dick before then.

No cookies for you...................just watch your intake drink plenty of water stay away from salty foods .............and you should be fine.......walking fast is great......... anything that makes you sweat

Well.. it turns out that reason I've had so much trouble posting the past few months is because for some reason, I can no longer add emoticons to my posts! So, just so you know... I TRIED to put some e-32 emoticons after my dick quip, it wouldn't work:D Mystery... yes... I watch EVERY spoonful of my intake as I'm shoveling it into my mouth(HAH!)! I love watching myself eat:P

Walking everyday is good for your heart. To build up stamina, try walking to warm up, jog a bit, back to walking etc. Every other day, increase the time spent jogging and eventually, you will be jogging completely! Don't forget to stretch first, even if you are just walking. For weight loss, time is the best. The longer you have your heart rate up, the more calories you will burn. But remember, if you are exercising for more than 30 min at a stretch, you should rehydrate with water. Not a great deal while you are walking but sip if necessary. Hydrate when you are finished but not rapidly.
Best of luck on your weight loss! And stay away from carbs! They are the work of the devil

Well, I won't be doing ALL running until I make a certain lifestyle modification. As for CARBS.... Saturday night, I ate an entire quart of white rice for dinner! YUMMY!:P

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO never eat the white rice! It goes straight to your ass! Oh, sorry, you're a guy, it goes straight to you belly!
Chose the veggies instead, preferrably the steamed greens or tossed greens with lemon, yummy (and don't be fooled by those pesky peas...they're potatos in drag)

Walking every day is fantastic exercise, it keeps the weight down, burns the calories, and strengthens your heart. And eating wise, lots of veggies, steer clear of bread, potatoes, pasta etc... I suggest stews with just a few potatoes in them, meat and veggies.

What is your calorie intake? Most people are healthy at 2000. You might need to take it down to 1600, ( becareful of your blood sugar too) or at least 1800 calories a day.
Count them every day and do your walking everyday. Now, if I could do what I just suggested to you I would be able to fit into my old clothes.

Well... all week, I've been doing that walking/running routine every OTHER night. Friday evening I weighed myself, and I was down to 161 pounds! I started the week at 166-168.. somewhere around there. THIS evening, I weighed myself......... and I'm BACK UP TO 171!!! How the HELL could I have GAINED 10 FU(KING POUNDS IN 24 HOURS?!?!?!?!?!?!
