LOL, it sounds like you have a scale like the one I bought last winter. I apparently gained 10 pounds practically overnight and THEN that shocker made my pants feel waaaaay too tight!
(Now I've decided to ignore the scale. If I can't button a pair of jeans or shorts, I just dig around for another pair that works. )

I can gain 5 or 6 pounds after a night on the beer, although I don't have many of those anymore.

Muscle does weigh more than fat - you will tone up and drop clothes sizes. When I was in my exercise/weight loss addiction stage - I actually gained 10 pounds but lost 2 dress sizes - gotta find that middle ground

I dont dont do the scale thing....I go by how my jeans fit....If they are tighter than normal.....I will decrease my food intake and increase the distance I run my hounds.

Every week for me. As hard as I try it's been a tough battle for me even just to lose a little weight.. even with exercise & dietary changes. Lack of metabolism sucks.

Not at all..
with my muscle and joint pains, it's hard for me to exercise.. just getting out of bed and to the bathroom in the mornings so I just try to eat healthier.. no metabolism here either

i finally found one of the articles i had mentioned. its in "running.net" and the article is, 2008 sports nutrition news from ACSM. a specefic point to make is you have to go from the sports side or the weight loss side. there are a lot of diets that can all but garantee a quick 10 lb loss. the decision is yours. fitness and slow weight loss or quick weight loss and wrinkles! big wrinkles! LOL as for exercise and how often, it basically depends on your age, which means how soon you can reccuperate from the stress of the exercise. at 58 i run about 6 times a month. i walk about 8 times a month and i do strength training about 4 times a month. at 185 lbs now i have basically stopped losing weight due to the increase in muscle mass. the weight loss now is in ozs!!! oh well, i'm running a lot faster now at 185 than i was at 215! we be jammin
