So i find myself turning more hippyish every day....
lately i have really been getting into natural/chemical free products. Did you know that most shampoos consist of an industrial strength degreaser called sodium lauryl sulfate, that strips your hair and scalp of all of its natural oils? add a little dry weather and you have dry scalp. It made me start to question a lot of other things we ingest, or use as beauty products ect. I have started researching the benefits and uses of essential oils and aromatherapy and am very intrigued by it. I cant help but believe that if something has been used as an ancient remedy, there was probably a reason for it.
What are your thoughts? Do you think natural is better than chemically induced commercial products? And do you think all of the chemicals we absorb into our bodies has something to do with the amount of cancer and other diseases we are diagnosed with??
SLS....
an interesting site...at least i think so

Thanks for the links, YP. A friend from work has a severely ADHD son. She took him to Utah to a holistic specialist, and a year later, states he is doing great!
What do you use on your hair, for pointers for the rest of us?

Not a bad idea...I find I have such difficulty with my shampoo during the fall. It makes for an uncomfortable season. Now you got me wondering, YP.

http://www.stophairlossnow.com/ReasonsForHairLoss.htmExplanation Two One clinic in America claims that 99 per cent of all hair loss in men and women is caused by one thing - excessive oil. This oil, called sebum, clogs the pores of the scalp and stifles follicle growth. In time the hair root is asphyxiated, making it impossible for new hair to grow. The follicles on top of a man's head grow straight up; consequently, when oil is released from the scalp, it has no place to go. On a woman's head, it can slip down the hair shaft towards the end, on a man's, it can only slide back to where it came from - the scalp. If the scalp is not cleaned properly this oil becomes wax thus clogging the pores. When a hair is shed, its successor cannot come out. It becomes weak and literally goes to sleep under the scalp. The few hairs that manage to push through that waxy barrier are so puny that they are ready to fall out as soon as they break through. Such are the circumstances leading to Male Pattern Baldness.

An egg is great for shine for the hair.
Also, beer, washing your hair in a can of beer....seems like a waste of beer to me, but I've been told it works

This lady is my "witch doctor" - she has come to my family's illness rescue many times. My dad had bladder cancer and she put him on a program - of course it doesn't cure, but it took the toxins from the treatments from him - virtually symptom free throughout the treatments. My sister is being treated at the Mayo right now - Linda has her on a program as well - again, no cures but helping the body rid itself of all the bad things.
Don't let the site scare you - yes, she does programs for animals as well! Linda is an incredible person - you have questions, call - she will talk to you personally and customize something for you - if you have trouble getting her - drop me an email -

i only wash my hair every other day...and also use rosemary, lavender and olive oil mixture and massage my scalp with it and then saturate my hair from roots to ends. After its all covered i heat up a wet towel in the microwave and wrap my hair like right after you get done showering. The heat helps the oils penetrate. I have found it helps soothe dry scalp...and have noticed im not itchy or have dandruff anymore. I am still using my normal shampoo, but have also added some of the rosemary and lavender to my shampoo. It may be in my head, but i feel like i can see a difference.
i use clean and clear for my face, but its always so dry, even with moisturizer... i want to try one of the facial cleansing recipes with oils and see what happens. I have a wicked sinus infection right now and have been doing eucalyptus inhalations along with adding to my bath water, which has helped clear my head far more than sudafed.

response to gallows post....
The Cause of Male Pattern Baldness Most men are genetically predisposed to male pattern baldness. It is the effect of hormones on the hair follicle that produces male pattern baldness. Testosterone, a hormone that is present in high levels in males after puberty, is converted to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) by an enzyme called 5-alpha reductase. DHT has an adverse affect on the hair follicles. Acting on a hormone receptor on the hair follicle it slows down hair production and produces weak, shorter hair, sometimes it stops hair growth from the follicle completely. This process gradually depletes your stock of hair and is normal hair loss.

one of the "natural" medicines that I use for the proverbial acid indigestion is dietary enzymes. i haven't had any stomach problems since i started using them, with the exception of alcohol abuse!, ya know, getting drunk more than i should LOL it takes about 3-4 days for your dietary system to get back to normal. we be jammin

Acid reflux- a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar. Can't beat if for preventing or relieving a attack. Apple cider vinegar with mother is the best. But both will do the job. Threw my prilosec out Red Marine Algae- is a natural antibiotic Aspertame-avoid it if you are subsceptible to migraine headaches as it is a trigger for migraines. It is banned in the U.K.

Aspartame should be banned here too. It is known to cause mental illness in some ppl.
I truly believe in the powers of alternative medicines. If it wasn't for an herbalist, I wouldn't be here. She saved me from a life threatening strep infection the doctors couldn't get rid of.
YP, do you grow your own herbs?
