Posts: 14 I have come down with adult whooping cough. After getting it, I found out that there is a booster vaccine (Tdap) that can be taken whenever one needs a tetnus booster. I would strongly encourage anyone who hasn't gotten a booster vaccine recently to go out and get it because this is a truly horrible illness. I don't think I have ever been this sick before (and I've had the misfortune of having bubonic plague a few years ago -- I must have very bad luck when it comes to old illnesses). I sincerely hope I am never this sick again.

The medical term for whooping cough is Pertussis.

I had it back when I was about 13.
It is horribble.

Then I had 4 years of winter pneumonias....I went and got that shot-havent had it for 10 years.

Posts: 52 Good luck. I had it and was hospitalized when I was around 8, in the 60's. I think it -may- have diminished my lung capacity (running more than block is a ghosted icon on my menu screen) but I'm by no means a wheezer or anything like that. I'm not really sure what's 'normal' as I didn't get the manual for this bod when I arrived on the planet.
Also, around the age of 40, I got the chicken pox but it didn't affect me badly or give me any lingering vestigial bumps, thank Crom. And it didn't itch as bad as they say it might Just needed to take time off work to let it pass and not transfer it to anyone else.
