I've discovered I need to clean my registry and have Windows XP Pro operating system. I've used my antivirus, adware removal, and spybot.....upped my virtual memory and still my log on is slow as molasses. Help! Can anyone recommend a good program that will help fix my registry...oh!, and there are a bunch of errors because I've scanned online. Any help would be appreciated.

I forgot to mention that I don't need to defrag :)

I use a program called RegDoctor, I'm no great expert but if you check it out on Download .com you can read user comments which seem to give a thumbs up. I've had no problems with it anyway

There is a free registry cleaning tool from micorsoft. I believe it is called reg clean. Microsoft wrote the program and it does a decent job. There are some good pay registry cleaners as well. Or you could just get a really big book and become an expert then do it manually.

It's FREE and not too invasive. I've tried other registry cleaners and had to reinstall many programs after using them.

Here is a link to download it:

Log on is slow? What log on? The log on to Windows XP?

Did you check to see how many programs you have that load when your operating system (XP) starts?

You can try CCleaner .... removes a lot of trash, as well as cleans up the registry, and modify start up programs as well. Its free.

Ccleaner is very good, also Advanced WindowsCare will clean the registry and fix a lot of errors. It allows you to create a backup too in case of problems.
