Is there anyone that use Skype? Ive been on it for many years and basically had so many issues but its not the program its the people who use it. You got weirdo's and people who cant even speak a lick of english harass you to teach them english. I cant even believe Skype condone's their site to be spammed with people asking others to teach them english like dont people ever heard of going to school or purchasing an audio cd?
Anyways i still use it and dont really talk to alot of people on their and just trying to find others who use the program.

I used it for awhile and thought the sound quality was good..It wasn't a pplace i used to get to know ppl, it was for those i already knew. Its been a long time but doesn't it have a feature where you can only talk to those you choose or chose?

I think it does Jackel. At least I think it's gotta.
All I know is I have used it too, to talk to friends of mine who live far away. I've never had anyone call me from out of the blue or anything. I'd not pick it up if I didn't know them.
Freestyle sounds more like what you're describing is a function of things like Teamspeak, or a few of those other free chat applications that let you chat across the web, where you set up a server and open a room for people to connect to.
Which makes me think, if Skype has that option, maybe that's what you're running into. You might want to take a look at the settings and see if there's a way to set it just to be used only by those people in your contact list or something.
Sorry I'm not a lot more help on that. I think you can use Skype peacefully, just probably have to set it up different.

Well encorrgbl im talking about skype not teamspeak.
Also in the forums is where people get harassed about asking them to teach them to speak english.
BTW its not very hard for someone to contact me and bug me to speak english so i know my options are 100% perfect.
Skype is used to have a voice chat with someone it shouldnt be a place to contact people asking them to teach someone english.
Hopefully cause of my thread post i can find people to speak too.

If you have the "Skype Me" option set, it means that you're open to people contacting you out of the blue. I had it set and had a lot of people contacting me looking to chat who I'd never met.
I changed that setting and no more problem. Sound quality and everything else about it I find excellent

Thanks MM! That would explain why when I've used it in the past I never got bugged by random callers!

I still use skype but havent found anyone to talk too.
I'm also going to get something called an i-phone its like $17CDN plus tax here where I live and its a phone you attach to your computer using usb. So instead of using your speakers to hear and a headset or a webcam with mic you can use the i-phone to speak into and listen too.
It looks great and of course there are more expensive types of usb phones but im happy with the cheaper brand.

Yes, I've been using skype a lot until last December for the free call in the US and Canada.
I'm looking forward to buying a headset, not really a handset since the cord would not be as comfortable as a wireless device.... up to now my choice is the jabra bluetooth headset, you can listen to music and also use skype, gizmo or any voip phone and answer when a call comes...

Yes the skype phones use USB. But the wireless headsets use Bluetooth.
There are many providers... skype is a good one, but hardly the only one.
Enjoy.

I've been using the USB phone for a long time now - it's way better than the headset and mic. The sound quality is vastly improved and it's just plain easier to use.
I've recently purchased the mobile skype phone:

I'll let you know how I get one...but not having to use a pc at all should make it far more convenient to use.

Skype Rocks.... works with my USB Headset wonderfully or I can use my mic and speakers. I plan on getting a skype wifi phone too. It runs beautifully on both Windows and Linux and since I am a Linux user.

I paid $14.95 and I have skype out (calling to any phone) free calling for the YEAR!!!
It sounds digital sometimes (like a cell phone), but for that price, you cant beat it. I have one of the phones that plugs into the usb port on my laptop. Works great.

Which one do you have that plugs into the usb port?
I saw one at my local computer store like for $14.99 plus taxes. I know someone who paid $20 plus taxes for the same phone and loves it.

$15 for unlimited calls to regular phones in the USA & Canada? You betcha I'm using Skype!
I use it for calling regular phones only and it works great 95% of the time or more. It is a great service, and keeps the minute usage on my cell phone way down.
