"My Computer" Icons

When you go to My Computer on a PC, you get a list of your drives. For the CD drive, it usually shows a name or icon of the CD currently in the drive.

I had installed and played a game, and when I removed the CD, the icon still showed the game CD in the drive. If I put a different CD in ( another game or a blank one ), it still showed the game CD present, and wouldn't write files or anything to a blank CD-RW.

I finally uninstalled the game, and the icon is back to normal. Any ideas what would cause this?

Software conflict. Easy to identify almost impossible to resolve.

Like Seal said, a slight bug. I have seen this but forget how I resolved it.

Reinstall your game and see if there is something that is loaded at start up that is trying to access the CD ROM drive. Look in MSConfig (or in a menu of the game itself) and set it not to run at system start. Refresh (F5 key) your view in My Computer. Manually run the disabled game component when you want to play the game.
