But then I decided why not share it with all you guys so here it

is The Post that can save you from hundreds to thousands of

dollars in PC Repair and Tech fees, free of Charge Compliments of

Old JaY

As you can see I have a Vast amount of Knowledge in PC's

Im a Expert and Certified,
Instead of talking to you in PC Tech Jargo

I made this fun and easy to understand

I hope you EnJoY

First lets say Windows boots up gives a error lets say

C:\Program1\pest.exe is missing or Currupt please check the file

again or Re Install

or lets say your Browser, IE Firefox or whatever you use
keeps poping up page after page and

crashes not only your Browser but your pc to.

or maybe you have some Annoying software thats on your PC you have

no Idea how it got there and you have tried effortles times

trying to Uninstall by Add and remove in Control Panel

Well then welcome to your Free Tech Support very easy Step by

Step Dirrections easy to Follow

Read Below and I Recommend Printing

Sounds to me like

1:

Ether you Un Installed a Application and it left behind some

files, Happings all the time in windows

2:

Your Anti-Virus or Any Spyware removed spyware left some files

behind happings

or

3: You got Infected by some spyware or Virus, Diallers and

Hijackers Possable Trojans

First lets asume its just some missing shortcuts very easy to fix

1st

Click start then RUN

now in run type msconfig then hit enter

Now click the last tab says Startup

Don't be over whelmed by all the files you see here These are all

the files that load when windows starts up

most are hidding but some load in your taskbar at the bottom by

the clock including that pesky msn messanger (listed as Msmsgs),

un select it to get rid of it, Just A tip

Now in this list look for whatevever says C:\Program1 and with

the filename after it Un select it and any other files with that

name Program1 then click apply and ok

lets say the file was called C:\Program1\pest.exe you would un

select it and any files with that name

Then Click Apply and then OK

It will ask for you to reboot click yes , Now when you reboot

there should be No warning about progam1

Any More

And you will notice there wil be a Pop up Warning That will Say

Microsoft System Configuration Utility has been run and ask if

you want show this warning again or not

I always click no then,click the X to close it

First things first try a Virus scanner

Heres a few free online ones
I prefer online ones as long as you have a good Internet

connection and fast not dialup

I prefer online ones Because they stay update more and if your pc

is already infected and you install one on a infected PC it may

or may not help you Because it may already be comprimised and be

tainted and Infected

And I recomend downloading

lavasofts free Anti Spware AdAware and run it,

Install and run and last I recommend

great program was formerly Ewido Anti Spware now teamed up with

You get more Advance Spyware and virus and diallers that the

typical AntVirus can't find or do find but can't clean , and lets

not forget those pesky browser hijackers that take over your

Browser and PC

Now Im going Teach you how to get rid of them majority of them can

be fixed by running these small programs

and run them in safe mode

Posts: 2,917 The best "fix" is to not let them in in the first place. Going online unprotected is not a very bright thing to do and it amazes me how many people are doing just that with out thinking it is a problem.

Get a good anti-virus program and never turn it off, have a resident spyware program installed and run regular scans with both programs. Keep a firewall in force and it doesn't hurt to use a registry tool to keep it cleaned out too.

The best thing anyone can do is to learn about these issues and keep your computer maintained. A house or a car are not any different, they must be maintained or else they will suffer and not perform as desired.

Posts: 13,747 Some of you might really want to play it safe and give your PC an exorcism.

2000-APR: Reverend Jim Peasboro of Savannah GA has written a book "The Devil in the Machine: Is your computer possessed by a demon?" Some of the points raised in the book are:

- "While the Computer Age has ushered in many advances, it has also opened yet another door through which Lucifer and his minions can enter and corrupt men's souls."
- Demons can possess anything with a brain, including a chicken, a human being, or a computer.
- "Any PC built after 1985 has the storage capacity to house an evil spirit."
- "...most of the youths involved in school shootings like the tragedy at Columbine were computer buffs...I have no doubt that computer demons exerted an influence on them."
- an estimated "...one in 10 computers in America now houses some type of evil spirit."
- "Technicians can replace the hard drive and reinstall the software, getting rid of the wicked spirit permanently."

If you're going to call the Geek Squad, you might also want to also call your Priest or Minister there too. I'd be careful about throwing Holy Water on the internals however. You could get a shock.

If you're eating chicken next to your PC that might have been where the evil spirit left the chicken and moved into your hard drive. Definitely avoid Kung Pow. For now, stick to tuna fish. The smell wards off evil spirits.

As it usually the applications that you use/need that determines the best OS and system suited to you.

If it just email and browser (ie, for this MD website) get the least expensive (~350 USD).

The thread was for PC, but you mentioned macs... so with the price of PCs, are imacs cost effective?

Get Ubuntu, overwrite Windows. Be Happy.

I like ubuntu but not all my applications will work with that OS.
I am looking into dual boot. Any thoughts?

Good idea, Mystery, about the protection but not too sure about all the "goodies" I use very few "bells and whistles" to reduce problems and increase performance.

Does anyone know how to stop cookies called

Purplemix1... delete ALL your cookies in "browser" options menu.
After, which, you may need to re-enter any username passwords for sites that you visit. (most sites have usually have "remind me" UN/pwd if you don't already save your important account info in a draft email). Which browser are you using? IE, Mozilla, Firefox, other?

Now, I'll go run for cover....

Posts: 87 Thanks Jay for your help, and thanks Philippe for advice posted,,,,,, I did some checking, I knew how to just hit tools, options, delete cookies, etc, and have always did this, then next time I ran agv, they were back, so after a bit of clicking I found that the cookies my agv keep telling me about , were stored in my pc,,,,,,,,,so I have clicked them under options and hit remove,,,,,,,,,I never knew they were there till today, I hope I didn't get rid of any that are good cookies,,,,,,didn't see Oreo,,, or, other,lol, jk,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Thanks guys for all your help,,,,,,,Purp
