 you do know that every time you visit a web page - that feeds that cookie to your computer.. it will show up again?  ( most cookies are just a nuisance.. but the more your computer stores.. the slower it runs...)

Not every website stores a cookie.
FYI: cookies usually store such info as screen display preferences, username/passwords (some browsers also can store this info to reduce typing), (of course) how many times you visit that webpage.
To know which sites store a cookie, use browser->options->privacy settings-> etc...
While I don't think Mozilla has ability to prompt, these two-- IE and Firefox-- Browsers have abilty to prompt each time.
I prefer firefox since you can customize this browser to use multiple pipelines for fatser website loading.

PS: Cookie storage space is negligible as the cache stores images and is the most critical to empty on a regular basis.
BTW: (previous mispellings)

Purplemix1 your very Welcome glad I could Help out and WoW my forum got popular Cool Deal
the good thing is even if you did del a good cookie it be back in once you log into the site again and save the user id pwd in ie , otherwise no harm and no lost
cookies are more like well cookies cookie crumbs they leave small trails of info about you what sites you like, what things you like to buy where your located state or country, all sites use cookies now days they also help webmasters update there sites so when you view you see the new stuff
but then there are other people and softwares that use these for malicious info , but most just for marketing
and if you chose to save the user id and pwd for lets say yahoo email it put a cookie so when you come back it auto log in , me personaly
I don't like any auto log ins Im very security Alert at all times
and I'm glad my email helped feel free to email me anytime only emails I get on this site or any are for pc help shame I can't do in house pc support and get a date lol

Posts: 55 Thanks Jay for your help, and thanks Philippe for advice posted,,,,,, I did some checking, I knew how to just hit tools, options, delete cookies, etc, and have always did this, then next time I ran agv, they were back, so after a bit of clicking I found that the cookies my agv keep telling me about , were stored in my pc,,,,,,,,,so I have clicked them under options and hit remove,,,,,,,,,I never knew they were there till today, I hope I didn't get rid of any that are good cookies,,,,,,didn't see Oreo,,, or, other,lol, jk,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Thanks guys for all your help,,,,,,,Purp

Right now I'm running Ad-Aware and scanning with my AVG, but Palomino and I are both having problems opening Photobucket. ALL OTHER SITES WORK FINE, but when I try to go to photobucket, it redirects me to atspace.com.
So far, ad-aware has found 603 items, and AVG has found Dialer.Generic. I'll let you know if clearing these fix my problems.

In addition to the Firefox speed-up techniques described by Philippe_Robert, I have two other recommendations:
1. Firefox Release 3 became available for general availability yesterday and is far faster than previous versions. They completely rewrote the rendering engine (the part of the browser that actually converts the HTML, CSS, etc. to readable text and graphics. There are other benefits, too...such as increased security. Download and try it!!!
2. Download and install the Adblock Plus extension. This extension leaves blank areas where advertisements are normally displayed. Not only do I not have to look at advertising in which I have no interest, I do not have to wait for the browser to load, render, and display those ads. It's one of my favorite extensions. It comes with a large list of ads to ignore, and it only takes a couple of clicks to add to (or subtract from) the list of ads.

Mozilla may have broken two records. One for the most downloads in a 24 hour period. The second for needing a vulnerability fix only 5 hours after being released. The latter I am sure was not expected. But what the heck. Nobody is perfect and the folks at Mozilla are only human. It is going to be interesting to see how quickly this can be fixed.

To complete this story, the vulnerability also existed in release 2 of Firefox. The vulnerability was not new but its timing sure sucked!!!

Yes, it speeds things up. For any advertisement, the HTML/CSS, etc. no longer needs to be downloaded nor rendered. The differences, depending on the web pages, can be quite dramatic.

All of Firefox and its extensions are public domain software. Please feel free to make donations as you see fit. I do.
Mozilla also has close ties with Google and I'm sure they benefit from that relationship as well.

so after asking that question, a quick search revealed... yep advertising, and probably a little trend analysis:
The Mozilla Foundation makes most of its money from Google for referrals from the default Firefox home page and built-in search box.
In 2007, its revenues were $67 million (from google)
FYI: And remeber kids, the first page (or two) of search results are the "paid for visibility" type and may not be the best results.

For those wanting to install Ubuntu, Linux, you can do so with this installer....wubi-installer
You can get Ubuntu here...ubuntu-linux install
This installer will allow you to keep windows and you will have Linux also. I have it on my computer and it works well. Please, don't attempt this download of Ubuntu unless you have high-speed internet service. As it is around 600 MB also there will be a lot of updates after the install. The installer is small around 1.5 MBs.
Go to the Installer site first and read about it. Very self explanatory! It does make running Linux and windows the easiest I have ever seen. On each re-boot you have the option of staying in windows by default or using the down arrow key to boot into Ubuntu!
I like Linux! And it is free!

Or, you can download Kubuntu which uses the underlying Ubuntu code with a nice graphical interface. It is even easier: it can be executed without having to install it. This provides for the opportunity to "kick the tires" on it without having to make the commitment of installing the product.
It can be installed permanently later.
Use this web site for the download.
