Can anybody tell me, for Luvvy, what the problem is when you can get your desktop, but then everything freezes up. Also didn't fully load, and no cursor shows. And the only way to turn it off is to unplug it.

Start in Safe Mode if possible. Run antivirus and spyware programs.
Get CCleaner and clean the registry and the junk files out..
Defrag.
Go to the PC makers website and ckeck for updates.
Update windows.
Try again.

Thanks LB-she says she has no control over it once it freezes-should she just keep unplugging it until it throws itself there? I asked why she unplugged, she said the power down button didn't work either. She's calling me back later to see if anyone had great ideas. I will tell her yours.

You should be able to hold the start button in and turn it off.
You can start it in safe mode prior to the hang up. Should be the F8 or the F12 key, depends on the maker. You hit this key at startup before anything is loaded. When you get to the menu choose start in safe mode then hit enter.
Sounds like some sort of software compatibility issue to me. But it may be something else.
If she can get it to start and run in safe mode and the anti virus, spyware checkers come back clean then she should hit the start button do the F8 or F12 to get to the menu with safe mode in it and then select Last Known Good Configuration from the menu. LKGC is like an emergency system restore. It should put the computer back in the condition it was in before the compatibility issue began. If she gets it to that point it would be a good idea to uninstall any new programs or files.
If it really is bad and she has no stored data on the computer she is worried about she could always start the computer from the Operating System disc and then reinstall it. This will wipe the hard drive clean and remove all programs. Yes you have to reload them but you will be starting from scratch and should not have any more hanging problems.
If you want to you can do a little research online about this and I think you will find several different reasons listed.
Hope this helps.

Can't sign in as you? That sounds really really strange. Must be some sort of recognition problem. I have no idea how to get that corrected but since you were having problems it sounds like it would be on your end. Can't be absolutely sure about that though.
