Does anyone have an Alienware computer, particularly a laptop? If so what has been your experience with the computer and the tech reps when you call for help?

Just looked over their site. Sorry but I don't have one nor would I want to get one any time soon. Looks like a Dell or Gateway competition thing to me, oh don't forget HP.

Alienware makes extrodanary computers built from the ground up with the Gamer and Graphic artist in mind and Anyone who does 3d Animation or Cad, Knows there one of the best around, if you can afford them
They use only the best money can buy for parts and Have some of the highest benchmarks
All of there pcs and laptops have a unique design and feel & allow you to choice
not only the components but the look and feel of how your pc and laptop will look
They use a cool program called the AlienGUIse which allows you to change the look and feel of your desktop & how windows looks and after so much demand is finally now free for any pc http://www.alienware.com/intro_pages/invader.aspx
There laptops are alot heaver than your average laptop depending on your configuration, they have options for dual SLi to Supports 2 graphic cards side by side
Dual processor and soon Quad for laptops 4 gigs of ram and multiple choices for graphic cards and support up to 640 GB for hard Drive if you have the money you can obtain all of this
The quality of the laptops are built from the groundup with Magnesium Alloy Chassis make them light weight but alot stronger and sturdy
Scratch Resistant and Fingerprint Resistant, tweaked OS optimized for speed and reliablity customized by Alienware staff
They give you all the printed material and cds along with cool cases
they offer a few choices on support from phone to home support where techs will come to your house
1-Year AlienCare Toll-Free 24/7 Phone Support w/ Onsite Service FREE
2-Year AlienCare Toll-Free 24/7 Phone Support w/ Onsite Service [+$200 or $6/mo.]
3-Year AlienCare Toll-Free 24/7 Phone Support w/ Onsite Service [+$300 or $9/mo.]
There Tech Phone help service is usually fairly good with a wait time of no more than 20 mins max but usally within the first 5 mins or less you will talk to a person
There staff are very knowledgeable and know there material what there doing, there very patient and polite and know how to talk to Non pc tech people
They were recently bought out by dell and sence then dells xps division has started Incorporating some of there tech into there own laptops http://www.dell.com/xps
As of this Moment 12/18/07 because Alienware is about to release there new laptops they have pulled there older advance ALX and there 19 inch high end laptops off the site the only one available now is the 17 inch Dual Sli The Area-51 m9750 wait until after this Xmas and the new ones should be ready by then
Bottom line is if your a gamer a Strenuous pc user who needs alot of computing power and graphics you want the best money can buy for Quality with a top of the line laptop that will still be a high end laptop in another year or 2 , you want top notch tech support, and you have $$$$ to spend then go ahead get a Alienware pc
But if you don't need all of that and money is a factor Dell makes some great cheap laptops Inspiron Notebooks and even have some high end laptops very simular to Alienwares the DELL XPS Notebooks
DELLS Tech support can vary I've had my ups and downs with them and many of times there techs are in a 3rd world country and foreign and hardly speak any English so it can be very difficult to understand them all and all dell builds great computers to and has fairly good service but for the Money you can't complain they have some of the best deals around
hope this helps some
