So basically they want more and more people buying block of time so they can use it to call out to landlines rather then listen to people telling them how some guy is spamming all the time. Huh?
No disrespect... but what are you saying??
Skype Pc to Pc calls (and video) is better quality than Yahoo. I prefer the yahoo interface... typically, I'll chat in Yahoo and talk with webcam in Skype... often to the same person.

I guess you didnt read the whole thread right?
I was first talking about my experience with skype saying how they rather have people pay for their service rather then do something about what someone says. Such as when i had skype on my pc and i was doing a pc2pc call with someone the guy or girl would spam me their site and when i go to it its some sorta adult site. I told skype about this many times but they dont want to do anything about it. I told them to enable some sorta feature that will report people and keep a log of what they type out.
Someone replied back saying skype was free. When i told them skype is not 100% free cause when you make calls to landlines you need to pay money for a block of time.
So there is a nutshell of what happened. I hope you understand now and if not then oh well.

I don't understand the part about spamming. There is a setting that blocks people from contacting unless they are on your contact list. Do you have this activated?

I dont use skype anymore and it dont matter about the blocks if someone really wants to harass you they will find a way.

I dont use skype anymore and it dont matter about the blocks if someone really wants to harass you they will find a way. Only if you open the door for them. If they don't have your personal information or the key to your door they go away when cast out. So don't let them in in the first place then you won't have a problem getting rid of them later, because they won't be there in the first place.

Skype is no more vulnerable to invasion than any of the others that you use. Besides, with the backing of eBay, they'll still be in business long after AOL and Yahoo are acquired by other companies.

I noticed with Skype... it automatically grabbed my contacts from MS outlook. I really didn't like that and removed Skype until I can can figure secure methodolgy for my contact list.
Any ideas?

According to Skype's web site, you would have had to overtly import those contacts from Outlook as described here.

any other user of messenger? I believe mystery2u888 was referring to the feature within Skype where you can leave messages or enter into chat sessions on the computers of people in your contacts list. It, of course, is free.

Nope, it would grab them as no "overt importation" necessary.
I would use Skype with only one (or two numbers) stored and after a day (or two) when I next used Skype all my contacts were populated into Skype. At that point, I would remove Skype as memory resident program until needed and finally removed it all during a PC spring cleaning.
Hopefully, they have resolved that issue as it has been at least a year since I last used skype (something about newly released programs and their inheritly buggy nature). Nevertheless, a secure/encryped contact file may be in order! Then I shall attempt the new fangle magic voice and video "skype" spell (program).

That's interesting. I've used Skype since the latter part of 2003 and have never encountered anything of the sort. I admittedly no longer use Outlook or Outlook Express, but it can also import from hotmail, gmail, and yahoo mail--all of which I use.
I also use Thunderbird, but they do not offer importation from it--yet.
