I've been using Firefox for quite a while and with good results. I would do a good virus scan and check for spy ware as well.

Fire fox runs great for me but its my Explorer thats giving me my problems(should have posted that ) it only started happening on Explorer when I added the Firefox. Things run slower and certain web pages(like youtube) are shaped different. Also on Explorer it says I need to update my Java...so I did like three days ago...worked great...now its saying I have to again .

Also I did scans with Norton and spybot...a few things were found but the programs got rid of them.

You may just be better off to use Firefox and skip IE for now. Firefox does a great job for just about all of the websites and for the ones that will not work well they will work with IE.

There should be absolutely no reason that your computer would run slower because you added a program. There may be other factors involved such as fragmented files or running too many high performance programs at once which would eat all your RAM up. Thus causing your computer to run slower.

Internet Explorer and Firefox are free, too.

Take a look at this performance evaluation of various browsers and you might want to consider waiting until next month when Firefox 3.0 is released to the general public. It is feature-laden and fast!!!

Opera has been very innovative with their browser, but many of us were turned off by the advertisements that were a part of its display. They have never recovered from that, and most other browsers now match (or exceed) Opera's features.

I have all three, Firefox, IE, and Opera. IE is the slowest and most resource hogging of the bunch. Opera is ok but a bit unwieldy to me. Firefox is the fastest and easiest to use of the three. So the other two sit there and wonder when I will use them. Probably never but there they sit anyway.

Anyone who is seriously developing web pages MUST test with multiple browsers (including Safari). They do not all behave in the same way!!!

I, too, use Firefox as my main browser, but use IE for certain Micro$oft (and other) sites that require it.

It could just be a ram problem. I have IE on my puter, but I use Firefox. Some programs just feel more comfy if you at least have IE there to kinda pacify them. But IE has too many glitches and problems for me to use it again.

Doesn't Firefox have a feature where you can open an IE tab from the FF browser?

It works exactly as it is supposed to. Thankfully, there are very few sites (other than Micro$shaft) that require Internet Exploder.

If you have not done so already, you might want to check out Adblock Plus--I love it!!

Been using IE 7.....it got rea slow, so it was suggested to try Firefox, which I did.

Uninstalled IE 7 and installed Firefox, had problems with some sites not displaying properly.

So, uninstalled Firefox, back to IE 7......and the problem is still there.

Can anyone help on this one?

Please tell us a little more:

What operating system are you using?
What processor does your computer have?
How much RAM?
What version of Firefox did you attempt to use?
What version of Java do you have?
Do you run anti-malware programs such as AdAware and Spybot on a regular basis?

Since your hardware and operating system are quite capable of running any browser, I would expect the problem to be in one of the following areas:

1. There is a problem with the internet connection itself
2. "Malware" or a virus has negatively impacted your system
3. Newly installed software is running and using system resources

Let's start at the top. Go to this web site to test your internet speed. It won't be exact but should provide us with a good idea of your connection capabilities.
