My Mom got a new digital camera and didn't know how to attach pics to mail . I have never had a problem with my PC but for some reason when I try to attach a pic will not download. It just stays in the "processing " mode for hours, never downloading the pic or even getting to the point where an error message comes up. I looked at their help page and says possible problem may be with the browser. She has Explorer. And suggested downloading firefox or another browser. Is that a good idea? Could there be another issue? Any suggestions are appreciated

1st i'd look and make sure the pictures that you downloaded from the camera is on the computer in the folder that you placed them in.
2nd you might want to check the pic size and format... jpg loads faster than others usually...
3rd you might want to log out of yahoo and try logging back in again... and try it 1 more time (maybe clear your cache on temp internet files)
( i just tried to attach a pic there and it zip right thru...so unless you are dropping the connection i'm not sure what the issue could be other than maybe one of the above...Sorry)
if you do get an error message post it or email me...

If she got a KodakEasyShare, those pictures are HUGE and definitely not "easy" to share! If she's on a landline (which I believe she might be) it'll take next to forever to upload them as an attachment...and probably time out or lock her up.
Are you still at her house, Laz? If so, try taking one of the photos and making a smaller copy and have her attach it to Yahoo. I've got IE, and attachments work fine, but I have had a few problems when someone sends me an extra large file -- it occasionally chokes my cache.

lordy, I love you guys. I tried again to attach one of mom's pics, still wouldnt do, so I attached one I had already sent to her.... attached right away. SO, I looked at the dimensions of the pics, 3072 x 2304 on hers and 480 x 360 on my pics.
Yaaaaa! its the size.
So, now, how do I change the size of her pics. She is using snapfire but some of her pics are in her documents. So I just need to resize.
Please help and I will dance at all of your weddings

an easy way is ....you can even open them in paint go to programs> accessories>paint...
go to file > open and pick the file to open.... then go to image>resize/skew... then you can change the percentage of the size and be sure to save as a jpg also......
(if you make it too small you can just close the image without saving and reopen it again and start over..)

That is a good way but for those not familiar with paint I think a simpler way is something like Microsoft Office Picture Manager. Resizing is easy and what ever your photo format, usually .jpg, it will be saved in that same format. If you don't have MS office picture manager then you can always get a free photo editor. I think Adobe makes one for example that you can get off the net for free.

i agree Seal there are many ways to resize.... resizing is about like the ole song "50 ways to live your lover"... pick one
i was just trying to pick a software she already had for sure and easy to use and since paint is not difficult to use for resizing.... and neither is pic mgr.... i just never see a reason to download a new software and try to learn something new when someone is already needing help if not necessary.....
so take your pick Laz and if you get stuck there are several here to help...

I agree with than nah. I just have an aversion to paint because the first time or two that I used it I found it more confusing that some other programs like MSOPM. A lot of people are not familiar with paint so I just thought I would point to something that was simpler for me. Shoot maybe I just have a hard time with some programs but eventually get the hang of them. Also I know quite a few people that really don't want to try to learn any more than they have to.
Yeah there is no reason to down load any new programs that is for sure and I guess not everyone has MS office either. So paint will do as long as no one gets lost in there.

She can also make the pics smaller in her camera. Mine goes from 1.9 MP to 6.4 MP. I set the camera differently depending on if I plan to share the pics.
I also found on photobucket a way to send a large group of pics at once, even using the land line.

2 free programs that are nice depending on your needs.
Irfaview ..... nice for resizing, cropping, and can make panorama images.
Paint.net ..... work with existing images or create your own, Works a lot like Photoshop Elements.

LB is correct but I think he made a typo. The first program is called IrfanView and can be found here.
