HELP my webcam wont work

Maybe you need to install drivers. Did you buy it new? recently? do you have the original CD's with the system? did it work in the past? I ran every check I could think of, updated the driver, uninstall and reinstall the software. I finally checked the camera in the device manager. After a little exploration it appeared that the camera had gone bad or wasn't coming on. So we bought a logitech one a installed it. No more problems so the camera had just stopped operating. We bought the GE because it was cheaper than the others but the cost difference between that and the logitech were not worth what it cost to deal with the problem. I have installed a few webcams over the years, including different brands/models to the same computer. Did you install drivers over the top of existing drivers? If so, try to uninstall the software/drivers then install them again. The cam was recognized but not functional. I think it was just a manufacturing defect. The logitech one is working fine now and has been up running for about three weeks with no problems. I didn't see your post until after mine went online. I think Logitech is the largest supplier of webcams. I've had one in service for years. I have two that I have had for a long time as well (logitech) with no problems. We thought we would try something different and it was a little cheaper. Unfortunately it was not worth it the GE one that is. S
