For those that may be interested in learning this a tutorial on msconfig and how to use it. Despite what some say here it is not that difficult and gets to the heart of the matter. As for BSOD you only get that when you don't follow instructions.

Good link Seal.
I used to always use regedit to stop any programs from running at start up but I am less anal these days so use Msconfig, quick and easy.

There is nothing wrong with using regedit either but I think that may be a bit more advanced for some people. I was just trying to make this as easy as possible for everyone.
