Are you trying to burn files onto the blank DVD, and it's telling you that the DVD is already full? How did you verify the DVD is blank?

Have you played a DVD on this computer?
What types of DVDs are supported by this computer?

Okay, so if you put an empty DVD in the drive and click on My Computer (or simply Computer if you are using Vista) and then right click on the icon for your DVD drive and select Properties, what does Windows say about the available space on the disc?

Myst, I've tried and tried but cannot replicate your symptoms on either XP or Vista.
I have one last idea: start up your program for burning DVDs (Nero, Roxio or some other program) and let it check the available space on the DVD.
Best of luck!!!

Right click "My Computer" icon from either your desktop, or by left clicking the start button in the lower left corner on your monitor, then right click "My Computer" from the menu.
Select or Left click "properties" from the context menu. "Systems Properties" dialog box will appear. Select or Left click the "Hardware Tab". Locate the area labeled "Device Manager" Left click the "Device Manager" button.
"Device Manager" dialog box will appear. You will see the name of your computer at the top of the tree (the tree expands into branches which in turn expand into leafs each time you select or Left click the plus sign in the box). Select or Left click the plus sign to expose the branches. Select or Left click the plus sign to expose the leaves called: DVD/CD-ROM drives.
The manufacturing companies names along with the model of your DVD player, or DVD burner, or CD player, or CD burner will be displayed. Write down the name exactly as it appears.
Close the "Device Manager" dialog box and the "Systems Properties" dialog box.
Take the information you wrote down and do one of 3 things.....
1. Return back to this thread to have people further assist you. (recommended)
2. Go to Google.com and put it into a website search to get general information about the hardware, and how it operates.
3. Go right to the manufacturers website or a recommended website to find out details about the hardware in question, software requirements, etc....
What You first want to know is if the hardware is capable of recording DVD data. DVD players do not operate like DVD recorders or Read/Writers.
Blank DVD's are not the same media as blank CD's.... that would be like trying to use an 8 track tape on a record player.
