One of our friends on here has a problem, and won't come here to ask herself, so here goes......
Her norton has expired, and she is unable to connect to the internet....
She thinks she is being blocked until she renews her subscription, I didn't think this was possible, but I thought the best thing to do is ask if anyone has had any experience with this.
I let her know I started this, and see if she can answer any of the questions that might come up.

I thought the best thing to do is ask if anyone has had any experience with this. I've worked with at least 3 computers that Norton expired on. All I remember is it reminded you (too often) you needed to renew. Block your computer from going on the net? No, if that happened, you wouldn't be able to renew your subscription online.

GMTA, although, if you ever forget to pay your phone/internet bill..... they turn off your internet , then when you call, they say, please go online !!!!!!
So, this is what I thought....
I think she just had problems connecting, and assumed that was the problem.
CALL THE CABLE company !!!!!!!!

Ha Ha Ha.... I paid the bill. Actually the Comcast people say that I show as receiving a signal. They have no idea why I am not connected.

You might consider removing Norton and installing one of the several free anti-virus programs that are just as effective, use less resources, and have no subscription fees.
I personally use AVG and have done so for many years.

LOL ... I just remembered that you work with 3-year-olds (or their teachers).
Okay, here's the deal: go to this site which is Symantec (the owners and now authors of Norton products) and download and run the Norton Removal Tool.
Check the instructions for your specific product.
I would suggest that you download (but not install) AVG prior to removing Norton. AVG can be found here.
Once Norton has been removed, install AVG (just double click on the saved file) and relax with a glass of wine. You have just improved your system immensely!!!

You need to get online with your computer or find a means to download the Norton tool and a copy of AVG to another computer and transfer them to yours (memory stick, SD card, CD....etc.).
Why is it that you can't get online with your computer?
If you're not going to be online, you really have little need for an anti-virus program.

Look at the very bottom right corner of your monitor in your taskbar, and look for what looks like 2 PC monitors with a blue dot. Double click it, then click "Diagnose and Repair" to see if it will reset your connection.
If you have a firewall, are you sure it isn't blocking your connections to get online?
Can you do Windows updates or update any of your programs?
Does your router need to be reset?

angel, I have cable connection also. The first thing the techs there always say to try is to shut down everything for a few minutes . . . computer, monitor, modem, all power. Then power back up & reboot computer. That's always worked for me.

One day she tried to get online, and could not connect... So she assumed it was Norton preventing her.
I'm thinking with 3 kids and a dog, she may have connection going to the house, but not to the computer.

It's not Norton. If she changed anything on the computer recently (installed new hardware, downloaded and installed a program, etc.), then that change should be suspected and examined.
If nothing has changed, then the connection itself should be examined. Okay, Angel, do you have a wired or a wireless connection for your computer?

Was your net some how connecting you to the internet? When you logged on, was it through Norton? Just a thought..
Norton,THE virus,,lmao
Ok, how old is your computer, is it Vista? How did you get on the net before Norton expired? In your control panel you will find a place that says Internet. Go there and see if you have more than one way to connect. You may see on the left hand side, new ways to connect too.
Play with it, it loves you, unlike NORTON..
If all else fails, call a Geek over for Micro wave candle light dinner so he can help?
I hope I helped you, I know I am smiling now.
yes, you can email me, in case these guys show me up..
