cpu usage 100% constantly

Opening task manager (netbook cpu, windows xp) shows cpu usage at 100% constantly even if I'm just looking at this website. Computer is very slow, can't really play videos evenly. Ending various processes doesn't seem to reduce 100%usage any. Any idea what could cause this? "advanced system care" has fixed or deleted any problems it found.

A common occurrence is for an anti-virus program to execute when a computer is first booted, particularly if it had been scheduled to scan earlier but the computer was shut off.
In Task Manager, click on the Processes tab, then click on the CPU heading twice which should list the most intensive task(s) first.
If the culprit is your anti-virus program, let it complete its scan. If it is some other process, post the name in this forum and perhaps someone can be of assistance.

A few weeks ago I installed a USB external video connection from a laptop to the HDMI connection of a TV.
The device came with a CD of drivers & software. The installation went smooth and the video worked perfectly. All appeared fine until a day or two later. Task Manager was showing 100% CPU and the computer was rendered useless.
I uninstalled the software and it went back down to 2%
I'm sure there was a conflict, but I haven't had time to sort it out. I need to check the manufacturer's website for an updated driver.

what capo said... 
but my problem was started when I switched antivirus programs.. I had to delete
one ...unused spyware program... manually to stop it..as I kept getting an error message when windows tried...
